Lyle and Scott Prestige, Spring 2012- Behind The Collection

This season Lyle and Scott has launched a premium golf wear capsule: Prestige.
Tom Herz designed the collection so I caught up with him to find out a bit more about the history and styles that inspired his designs.
“Prestige is a new offering for Lyle and Scott. Whereas the Club collection drew inspiration from the 1980’s to give a youthful, vibrant and colourful collection, the Prestige collection looked to 1960’s Lyle and Scott as a reference. Prestige looks at the notion of a twisted classic, the colour options and the garments have a timelessness to them however I added small and quirky details to really set each item apart from the masses. This collection is for the gentleman who is a discerning and classic dresser and who would always choose quality over quantity.

The shield badge branding has very strong sporting connotations and the patches are made from leather so it gives each piece a very luxurious finish. This idea behind the branding came from a wooden shield which is in the Lyle and Scott archives. The shield represents success and sporting achievement and so it makes a great accompaniment to the Prestige collection. Branded horn buttons, considered tipping and leather accessories provide the finishing flourish.
The shawl neck sweater with cable detailing on the arms has to be one of my favourite items for the season, it’s a really luxurious item. I’m also a fan of the polo shirts as they strike a great balance between smart and casual, they are subtle and great for everyday wear.”
The Lyle and Scott Prestige collection is available online now.
